China Eastern Airlines and Pratt & Whitney celebrated the delivery of the 200th overhauled engine of 2024 on Dec 17, by Shanghai Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Maintenance Co Ltd, a joint venture established by the two parties, with a delivery record of the joint venture and also a new milestone in the strategic collaboration between the two.
“Starting from scratch, Shanghai Pratt & Whitney has grown into a leading engine overhaul center in China, which has been recognized by customers both home and abroad,” said Wang Zhiqing, chairman of China Eastern Air Holding Co Ltd during the celebration ceremony.
According to Wang, after consistently improving efficiency and optimizing cost, Shanghai Pratt & Whitney has successfully achieved capacity growth and become a world-class MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) company.
As the collaboration between China Easter and Pratt & Whitney was deepened, Shanghai Pratt & Whitney, a benchmark project between the two parties, is hoped to leverage both partners’ expertise and strengths, better meet the MRO market with excellent products and services, ease the pressure on supply chain capacity, create greater value for global airline customers and the civil aviation industry chain, said Rick Deurloo, president of Pratt & Whitney’s commercial engines business.
Founded in November 2007 and put into production in September 2009, Shanghai Pratt & Whitney has to date delivered more than 1,700 engines.
