The Chinese embassy in Kenya held a reception on Sunday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at an event attended by hundreds of dignitaries and guests.
In addition to enjoying Chinese cuisines, the guests and dignitaries immersed themselves into cultural performances that highlighted the deepening relationship between China and Kenya.
Speaking at the event, Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s prime cabinet secretary and the cabinet secretary for foreign and diaspora affairs, said in the past 75 years, the Chinese government has made tremendous political and socio-economic development, including lifting Chinese people from poverty to high quality living standards, that is unmatched in the world.
He said China is standing tall in global political and economic affairs and is a key stabilizer in an unstable global economy, noting that the Asian powerhouse is the world’s second-largest economy, the largest manufacturer, the largest trader in goods, the second-largest consumer of commodities and the largest holder of foreign exchange reserves.
“China continues to be a firm voice for many developing countries in an international system that is unfair, unjust and insensitive to the peculiar needs of developing countries,” Mudavadi said.
