NEW YORK — Multiple members of a US Marshals fugitive task force were shot on Monday afternoon as they were conducting an investigation in a suburban area of Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina, according to local police department.
Four officers with the US Marshals fugitive task force were shot with one deputy marshal in surgery, according to a report by NBC News.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department asked residents to stay clear of the area and stay at home as investigation is going on.
“I am in contact with law enforcement concerning the tragic shooting in the Charlotte area, and we have offered state resources to help,” said North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper on social media.
