XIAMEN — The South team rallied to beat the North team 138-122 in the 2024 CBA All-Star Game in Xiamen on Sunday.
Guangdong Southern China Tigers’ Hu Mingxuan scored a game-high 31 points and received the MVP award.
The two teams staged a high-scoring game. The first quarter ended with North leading 38-34.
Xinjiang rising star Qi Lin kept scoring, helping the North lead by 13 points into the half of the second quarter. Zeng Fanbo of the Beijing Ducks and Zhang Zhenlin from the Liaoning Flying Leopards executed slam dunks, helping the North to take a 10-point lead by halftime.
The South hit consecutive 3-pointers to start the second half and leveled the score 114-114 in the final period.
The South kept moving on under the lead of Hu Mingxuan and Hu Jinqiu, delivering a 24-8 run to wrap up the victory.
Zhejiang Lions center Hu Jinqiu had 20 points and 19 rebounds for the South. Cui Yongxi from Guangzhou added 23.
“I’m very happy that both teams tried their best to entertain the fans, so it’s a good game,” said Hu Mingxuan. “The MVP award belongs to the team, and I want to thank my teammates for passing me the ball and protecting the paint area.”
Qi Lin led the North with 29 points. Zeng Fanbo and Zhang Zhenlin had 22 and 20 points respectively.
Fujian guard Li Yiyang defeated Gao Shiyan of Shandong to win the Skill Challenge Contest.
The Shanxi Loongs shooter Yuan Shuai was crowned in the Three-Point Shooting Contest with 25 points, edging Jia Mingru of Guangzhou who scored 24.
Wildcard player Wan Lei won the Slam Dunk Contest.
