A popular documentary following the construction of a water project in three years documents how the Yangtze River was diverted to the Huaihe River to benefit 50 million people, said producers during a recent seminar in Beijing.
Conceived in the 1950s, the project began construction in 2016, completing the first phase near the end of 2022, and is currently in the second phase of construction. Spanning 723 kilometers across several water sectors, the project aims to supply water to 15 cities in Anhui and Henan provinces.
The documentary
Qian Li Jiang Ru Huai
(From Yangtze River to Huai River) consists of six episodes that comprehensively document the entire process of this monumental project, from constructing waterways to restoring biological environment.
Zhu Qing, the chief planner of the project, said that the documentary has brought to light this relatively unknown project, showcasing to Chinese audiences the dedication of the planners and workers to this remarkable endeavor.
