Hyundai’s premium brand Genesis launched the new GV70 in Beijing on Wednesday, with four variants priced between 293,000 yuan ($41,175) and 403,000 yuan.
The SUV features a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which was listed in Ward’s 10 Best. With a maximum output of 304 horsepower and top torque of 422 Newton meters, it is among the first imported mid-sized luxury gasoline SUVs to offer more than 300 horsepower for under 300,000 yuan.
The model comes with all-wheel drive and modes for snowy, muddy and sandy terrain, enabling drivers to handle diverse road conditions.
The GV70 comes standard with advanced features including a 27-inch organic light-emitting diode integrated display, fingerprint recognition system, armrest storage with built-in ultraviolet sterilization and a digital key.
The SUV offers 22 interior options and 13 exterior paint options, allowing customers to choose from a total of 286 combinations for personalization.
The model also comes as standard with eight air bags, including front center air bags for protecting the front occupants. The Genesis Active Safety Control driver-assistance system offers Level 2 highway driving-assisted features, along with features such as blind-spot display, reverse ground illumination and other advanced functions that are rarely seen in its class.
Zhu Jiang, the newly appointed CEO of Genesis China, said: “The newly designed GV70 is an authentically heartfelt design tailored for Chinese customers.”
The auto industry veteran, who previously worked with Nio, BMW, Lexus and Ford, said despite its lackluster sales over the past three years in the Chinese market, Genesis is committed to learning from past experiences and cultivating a presence in the Chinese market, with no plans to exit.
