In February, a high-definition television channel specializing in rebroadcasting classic movies and TV dramas was launched under the guidance of the National Radio and Television Administration.
Chong Wen Jing Dian (Reviewing Classics) has already attracted an audience of over 200 million and has organized a series of subsidiary events, including taking the makers of classic films and programs to colleges to pique the interest of the younger generation.
One such event was held at the Beijing Film Academy on Tuesday, during which the cast of the popular 2014 TV drama
Romance of Our Parents
shared behind-the-scenes stories with around 500 students and teachers.
Song Qizhu, the chairman of the China Broadcasting Network Group Corporation Ltd, stated that the corporation is committed to strengthening the channel’s role as a nonprofit platform, and to allow young people to enjoy free content and promote culture.
To date, the channel has rebroadcast more than 2,700 episodes of acclaimed TV series, documentaries, and animations, according to the corporation.
