The total revenue of China’s national broadcasting and television service industry reached 1 trillion yuan ($140 billion) in the first three quarters of 2024, an increase of 4.73 percent year-on-year. The income from operating was 895.98 billion yuan, up 6.37 percent on a yearly basis, said China’s National Radio and Television Administration.
In terms of providers, traditional broadcasting and television providers generated a total revenue of 418.73 billion yuan, while online audiovisual service providers had a total revenue of 584.19 billion yuan. During the first three quarters, broadcasting programs were aired for 11.62 million hours nationwide, while television programs had 13.74 million hours aired.
As of the end of September, there were 207 million cable TV household subscribers nationwide, and the China Broadnet 5G service users were 29.37 million households.
