Shigatse-born artist Trinley Dechen’s current exhibition in Beijing provides a retrospective of his personal journey of self-exploration spanning the last decade. Hailing from the Xizang autonomous region, Dechen’s artistic evolution reflects a departure from traditional brushwork techniques as he sought to find his unique voice in the realm of painting.
Growing up with a penchant for art, particularly the figurative style prevalent in thangka paintings and Tibetan murals, Dechen’s exposure to diverse artistic styles during his time at an art college in Lhasa steered him toward embracing a more abstract approach.
