On June 17, staff members of State Grid Jinchang Power Supply Company accelerated the installation work for the 110-kilovolt substation project in Jinchang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jinchang, Gansu province, in a bid to ensure the project is completed and put into operation before December. Their effort will meet the rising power demand in the zone, especially for research and development-oriented enterprises using new technologies and materials.
The total investment in the 110-kV substation project in the zone is 56 million yuan ($7.7 million). The core facilities include two main transformers, each with a capacity of 50 megavolt-ampere. Those facilities ensure a strong power supply capability. The substation has four 110-kV outgoing lines, four 35-kV outgoing lines and 16 10-kV outgoing lines, covering a wide area. This project can optimize the power grid structure and enhance power supply reliability and flexibility. Each main transformer is equipped with a 4,000-volt reactive power compensation device on the 10-kV side, which can effectively improve the power quality and system operating efficiency.
With the continuous settling of enterprises in the zone, the electricity load has sharply increased, posing a significant challenge to the power supply. To address the power supply in this area, State Grid Jinchang Power Supply Company conducted thorough research and planned to construct a new 110-kV substation and 110-kV supporting lines in the industrial park of the zone. By densely distributing substations, the pressure on the 110-kV substation in the zone is alleviated.
“Now, with the continuous expansion of our second stage project in the plant area, it has posed an even greater challenge to the power supply. The completion of the 110-kV substation project in Jinchang Economic and Technological Development Zone has provided sufficient electricity for our enterprises, giving our businesses wings to soar,” said Yang Shuyan, director of the electrical department at Jinchang Pump Xinwangda Environmental Protection Technology, when mentioning the 110-kV substation project.
Currently, State Grid Jinchang Power Supply Company is enhancing information exchanges with local governments to collect key information such as Jinchang’s planning and investment attraction policies. It is advancing enterprises’ electricity use from the “electricity application” stage to the “land leasing” stage and shaping the service mode from “letting the project wait for electricity” into “electricity should wait for the project”. Through safe and flexible high-quality services provided for enterprise customers in the Jinchang Economic and Technological Development Zone, the company is dedicated to optimizing the users’ experience.
